I am sorry that you didn't get sent an SMS when clearly that would have saved you quite some time and inconvenience. I have to say though that BA had to make some very quick decisions in what was not always a very transparent situation (no fog puns intended). I really don't know how BA can win on this one, several flights have to be cancelled and they are all full. Crew ops and Customer Services are waiting for the decision NOW!! I quite agree that there was a level of decision making, but only because the airlines had their hands forced. I really can't see that BA can be held liable for making a tough call. If that decision hadn't been made in a timely manner LHR would have quickly gridlocked and they would all have been cancelled.
I do hope that you are not too put off from posting again, I am sure that your input would be useful.
