One time, many years ago when I was young and thought that showing such devotion would mean something to my career - at a prior employer.

Needless to say, I now counsel younger workers that, unless it is something that they may want to do/find desirable (see Prague in post above), if their firm asks them to stay on the road over holidays they should refuse and perhaps start checking on other opportunities.
