Have just spent alot of time at various Marriott hotels in Europe and I am hopeful that one day, the smoking ban will make its way there too. The Paris Rive Gauche was not a bad experience. In fact, I didn't see many smokers, however the hallways smelled like smoke at times. The Berlin Marriott, uggggghhh.. Beautiful hotel, great Executive Lounge, awesome staff, but smoking EVERYWHERE. Impossible to escape it - by the elevators, in all the restaurants, the lobby, the check-in reception, at the front revolving door, outside the revolving door.. Now at the Cairo Marriott. Same problem as Berlin, although the new Zemalek Tower is nonsmoking, while the Gezirah Tower opposite is smoking. This does make a huge difference.
