Overnight flights from/to Japan and timezones - I don't get it
So I'm planning a trip to Osaka next year. Stop-over in the US will be either SFO or ORD.
Expedia, Orbitz and United's site itself all tell me that the outbound flight to KIX arrives the next day, whereas the return flight arrives on the same day...
I just don't get it - let's presume UA's direct flight from ORD leaves at 1pm, the flight is about 12 hours, MINUS the 10 time zones, so all in all it should arrive in Osaka on the SAME day rather than the next day.
On the other hand, let's say the return flight leaves KIX at 4pm and arrives in ORD 11 hours later, ADD 10 time zones, arriving on the NEXT day - right?
So, what am I missing here?? Who's right, me or Expdia/Orbitz/UA?
