It is simple Psych 101. The more postive reinforcement you provide to a behavior, the more of the behavior you get. The kid sees that his mother's demanding and rude behavior is rewarded not only with compliance with her will, but also with a glass of wine. Kids will emulate their parents, especially when they see that the behavior they emulate seems to result in rewards.
So, by rewarding the mother's rude behavior, we would indirectly be causing more headache for the mother down the road when her child starts treating her the way she treats others. Karma...er, Reverse Psychology 101
