Know your terminology when using the credit

The credit refund is a hassle. However, if you know your terminology when using it for a future flight, you might save some time.

The credit issued from reduced air fare is called a "GAR" credit--Guaranteed Airfare Refund credit.

This is not made clear to you when you receive your credit notice, or even how to apply...you are simply told to call the Alaska or Horizon number. When I first attempted to apply my credit, no one understood what I was talking about. It took a couple of calls to find the right agent who understood! Also, you will be given a credit refund number...have it handy.

Good luck!
