If I were a flight attendant trying to deal with this kind of mess, I'd suggest that she offer to trade 9B for 37D or 37F. While the chances of getting a willing trade appear to be somewhat low (given the responses to the hypothetical trade question in the other thread), they are probably higher than if she tried to trade 37E for 9A or 9C. If a passenger in 37D or 37F is facing a tight connection, s/he may be willing to accept a middle seat in order to move up to the front of the plane.
