Actually, if I were you, I might consider leaving that specific detail out of the letter. If they arrived only, say, 90 minutes too late (I'm assuming the funeral was not a several-hour-long affair) and were held up in rush hour traffic, you have just given Delta an excuse to say "not our fault".
