Unless things have changed don't try to go to the "US Airways" customer service desk if you have an east itineary, you will be told we can only service america west operated flights. I can go on but you get the point. At the time I was only a PP and there were a lot of computer problems.
The giving away of the seat is unfortunate, and you should have received something as compensation (unless you took your time getting to the gate, which I'm not suggesting you did).

The customer service desk's inability to assist US-East pax was still an issue the last time I checked in October, and that's just stupid. They tell you to go to a gate in A/B (I don't recall which) and that there "may" be someone there who can help. Probably less of an issue now, and most certainly a non-issue next year - they've significantly improved the ticket counters in T4 level 2, so I'd assume they're attempting the same at the customer service counters after security.

That said, I've had 90% excellent experiences in PHX. The only bad ones have been two of the worst GAs I've ever met in my life - downright rude and indignant with customers asking legitimate questions. One is now a TA (or a TA/GA split) and is much more friendly than when he was a GA. I dunno about the other (he was an HP employee - which astounded me), but I just don't see how they can treat customers the way they do and live with themselves. Yelling at a 70 year-old woman who asks about preboarding and telling a woman to "read the board" when the board shows obviously inaccurate information about a flight are not helpful nor appropriate responses.

I hope you'll give PHX another shot - I truly believe that some of the finest employees work there - especially down at the ticket counters.
