As another point, I've had 14 TACA segments this year, all with absolutely zero drama. All on time. These include SFO-SAL, SAL-SAP, SAL-MGA, SAL-SJO, and LAX-SAL....
A mess as in
1) they don't honor seat assignments even if they are made on their web site
2) they try to screw you on your checked luggage and consider some of it "standby" esp. during they holidays
3) butchered the order of my name and it caused trouble returning to the US
4) can't seem to enter a MP number correctly and after 4 RT's since June have yet to see the miles
5) once on a SAL-GUA-SFO trip they couldn't get fuel in GUA so we had to backtrack to SAL
6) no electronic ticket capability only stored in their "system"
7) said they couldn't check me into my SAL-LAX segment on UA but UA said they did
I could go on and on since I have been traveling them since 1995. Their "infrastructure" leaves something to be desired but once on the plane
usually everthing is OK.
