It sounds as if American Express is rebating to the employer a portion of the transaction fees. In this circumstance the $75 annual fee is not the issue, it's the value of the points themselves. Realistically, American Express does not benefit from offering points on corporate cards that empoyees are requiredto use, except to the extent that it encourages the employees to also use a Membership Rewards card for their personal spending.
