See above. You'll agree that even for UAX a wind speed of 35 mph (ground idle) resp. ~ 70 mph (breakaway @ EPRL for ground operations) is not a big deal. Think of it ... a CRJ-900 speeds up to approx 140 mph just for take-off.
So a CRJ can handle jet blast just because it needs to get to ~120 knots to take off? No, no no.
Here's the real reason: any/all of the following things could be on the tarmac surrounding the aircraft at Gate 79:
Ground vehicles (baggage, tugs, fuel)
Misc other equipment
Ramp workers
Passengers
Not a good idea to blast any of those with jet exhaust from a heavy going into the adjacent gate. The last one in particular. They tend to not like it.
