SRQ Guy is correct in that walking from the parking garage will be about the same or a shorter walk than from the on-site hotels. But note that the hotels have Water Taxis that continuously run from each of the hotels to a location just between the 2 Universal parks. And kids usually love to ride in the boats, so you get to have a "park" ride even before you get to the parks.

I will also agree that if a 5-10 minute walk is an issue, then maybe going to an amusement park isn't the best choice for someone.
