Got the same call yesterday. The person on the other end of the phone didn't give me any options either. If they had bothered to mention (before cancelling our itinerary) that the last day of service was 1/8, I could have checked in switching our trip to fly one day earlier in each direction - we scheduled to come home on the 9th.
Can't cancel the trip without incurring the wrath of the sister-in-law we were going to visit, so it's either spend 60% more to fly NWA or drive. NW's still a relative bargain, but $150/ticket is hard to accept when you were booked at $93 before. Could save a few bucks by going into BWI, but then we'd have to rent a car, so that doesn't make sense either. Argh!
