I can understand the blast concern at an airport like LAX where the planes need to taxi down the alley ways, but at gates 80 and 82 at SFO...there is nothing behind them (other than airfield) that could fall victim to jet blast.
Actually its become an issue since UAX (United Express) moved from the remote terminal and started using
gates 76A-79 at SFO. When gate 79 is occupied ( usually by a CRJ), gate 80 is considered a tow-on gate for any heavy aircraft. The jet blast could cause significant damage to any aircraft, equipment or personnel in the area.
