On a CO flight from MCO last month, the GA was asking for people to trade seats with a family that had small children in the exit row. Somehow the computer gave the family (Dad, Mom and 4 kids) exit row seats which is prohibited. The GA was requesting for people in sets of three to change seats with this family. Unfortunately, with the flight originating from Orlando, there wasn't anyone who fit this arrangement.
The GA amazingly let these folks on the plane and the FA's had to rearrange the seating so the plane could take off. I was not privy to how they did it but finally the plane left.
While it may seem callous, it is the parents responsibilty to make sure they get either their seat assignments in advance, or to get themselves to the airport extra early so assignments can be made properly. Improper planning on their part does not warrant me to be so inconvenienced. Sorry, but I flew a lot of BIS miles to get to choose my seat.
