It is ridiculous to have random shoe inspections at the first security stage. Either shoes represent a potential hazard in which case we all de-shoe - or not.
I'm hoping the OFT enquiry invites feedback from "The Public" as I think said public will have a lot of feedback to provide.
Today at LGW, about half the people queuing are taking their shoes off. At the conveyer, I asked the guy if shoes need to come off. "Not today" he replied. But no-one bothered to inform the millions waiting for security, resulting in delays while everyone messes around with their laces trying to get their shoes off.
Anyway, shoes are officially
not a risk at LGW today.
