Sorry that I need to respectfully disagree with the policy. In my opinion, the only determinig factor should be the SIZE of the purse, briefcase, backpack, whatever, and if it will fit under the seat in front of you. The roll on should go overhead and the "other" item under the seat. As long as it fits under the seat, and I am forced to check one of the items, NW only angers passengers like me. This is just on man's opinion and I am certainly not out to start a war, but this situation does factor into my decision to fly/not fly on NW.
