This thread reminds me of one of our greatest frustrations.....and I'm sure you'll have sympathy for us 2-3 years ago we had a GREAT pizza while visiting NYC, very thin crust, great all around -- on the UES...still can't remember the name, and we had very good pizza on our last NY trip. So that is what we keep trying to duplicate........around here (Orange County)

The GOOD NEWS is that a couple of years ago we ordered pizza from a new place nearby (new to us anyway) and brought it home and it was AMAZING -- almost exactly like the NY pizza we had. We were THRILLED! (fyi - it's New Yorks Upper Crust Pizza).

The BAD NEWS? They are completely and totally INCONSISTENT We loved their GOOD PIZZA so much that we have endlessly given them the benefit of the doubt and tried again and again over the last couple of years. We finally threw in the towel last month. I get so frustrated because even CHAIN PIZZA restaurants are typically consistent....so why can't this place be? They've been there for 15 years and people are always lined up to get pizza.

As for the INCONSISTENT part, about 40% of the time they make great, thin crust NY style pizza. About 20% of the time they forget the 'extra thin' part and make it a little doughy and it's just "OK". It's the 40% of the time when we bring it home and it's so SOGGY in the middle that we spend half an hour trying to get it well done or dried out so we can eat it We tried different toppings, we tried asking for WELL DONE or EXTRA THIN, being there when it comes out and making sure it doesn't sweat too much in the box, etc., but it's a total CR&*PSHOOT as to what we'll get. We can't figure out what they do to make it great some days and soggy on others

Sorry! Thanks for listening to my rant! This has been REALLY frustrating.
