I seem to recall this happening around this time last year....the car descriptions for specific vehicles get very vague. I always thought it had something to do with the model year changeover, and that certain stations might be transisitiong to newer cars or models within the same class.
I arrived at SFO on Christmas day two years ago, to pickup an S80. My name wasn't on the gold board, and they told me that the S80 they were going to give me had > 30k miles on it, and were wondering if I wanted something else (they always try to push the 'stang convertible...to which I said NO). They eventually found a recently returned S80 with 20K or so miles on it, and STILL gave me a $50 Hertz voucher for the delay and trouble.
