I consider a clean glass one that is washed in dishwashing detergent in hot water, or sanitized in a dishwasher. I didn't turn the housekeeper in- she didn't speak much English and didn't hide what she was doing- she just smiled a lot and cleaned. I didn't want to get her in trouble, but at the same time, I was without glasses/mugs for that day and night.

I understand that it's easier for them to wash them up a bit, but really, it disgusted me. Now I am afraid to drink out of glasses no matter what hotel it is, and being I travel a lot, that isn't good. Also, being it is cold/flu season, I was shocked at the ease with which she just washed up the glasses in the same towel she used to dust with and didn't even use hot water. Maybe I've been naive about what is clean and what isn't- maybe what I don't know won't hurt me. Then again, I really was disturbed by this. I had used the mugs for hot cocoa and the glasses for raspberry Crystal Lite, so it wasn't like they were that clean to start with.

I do know I'll be keeping an eye on the glasses in the future and will wash them myself when I first get into the room. If the airlines weren't so strict about the 3oz liquid thing, I'd just bring my own dishwashing liquid if I had to. I wish I drank alcohol- now THAT would clean a glass, LOL! I just can't stand the taste!
