in and out of JFK Flip a coin and ignore all the above advice especially lga advice as that is not an option for your flights connecting from lax to europe, unless you like taxi connections. It depends on more than winds, even local politics gets involved. there are 4 runways and really none will give you a great view of Manhattan,,Only view is if you land coming in over belt parkway in brooklyn then it is on your left side but since the plane will be turning right and banking you will not have much chance to view manhattan anyway. If view is really important switch to an airline that flies in and out of that horrible state across the river and fly into ewr.
I forgot .. even some birds in jamaica bay have a role in what runway you will be on..
