SusanDK's situation is the most common method of handling a perferred member transferring a reservation to another renter. If it wasn't perferred, or prepaid, then the original reservation would probably have been used without rebooking.

Susan's experience is textbook how Avis Agents are supposed to handle this situation. The SAS and EB issues not withstanding. Since her husband is also qualified for that particular AWD, everything should have been identical, but with his information instead of hers. On transfer over, some info wasnt done right. Probably AWD was left off, but the same two digit rate code was transferred over.

In this situation, ask for a printout of the original reservation fromyour friend or family member, compare prices, discounts, rate codes, and AWD's from your RA to the original reservation. Agents are only human. They need to switch between two differnt screens to transpose information, less than ideal.

The Avis rental was made in my name (President's Club). He proceeded to the Avis kiosk with all our luggage and they would only give him the car by changing the name on the reservation to his name and credit card. Luckily, he also has a President's Club card and AmEx platinum card, so it was an easy switch.

They told him the rate would remain the same, but when we turned the car in, they had not honored the EuroBonus Silver discount code (which he also qualifies for). A quick stop at the kiosk and the charge was rectified to the original booked rate -- luckily we had a print out from the website with the confirmed rate.

The EB points didn't post automatically, but I was able to claim them with SAS later, but on his EB account since his name was on the Avis receipt.
