Departing from JFK: Which side of the plane?

We're flying Delta from the west coast to europe with a stop in JFK. Since my kids have never been to NY, which side of the plane will give them a glimpse of the big apple?

From west coast to JFK
From JFK to Europe
From Europe to JFK
From JFK to west coast
