Question of dirty glasses/mugs in room

Okay, I may be a bit of a clean freak when it comes to travel- I carry antibacterial soap with me on flights- so tell me if I overreacted in the following instance.

I was at Sheraton Bal Harbour in Miami last week and as the weather outside was indeed frighful, I was curled up on the couch in the suite watching tv. Housekeeping came in and she spoke little English- I only wanted clean towels- but she began to clean. I stayed out in the living room, and she was done with the bedroom and bath and came out to the sink in the living room.

I had dirty glasses that needed replacing and thought she would bring new ones in. Instead, she used a white towel that was tucked into her apron/skirt to wash the glasses in the sink, using NO soap and just rinsing them. One she didn't even put under the water, she just rubbed it with the towel. She also took the mugs and did the same with them, using the same towel and again, no soap. Then she took that towel and started to wipe down the surfaces- sink, tables, even the tv. Then she tucked the towel back into her apron and smiled and left.

There was no soap, as I mentioned, and she simply replaced the glasses and mugs back in their spots after she dried them. I may be naive, but I thought that they had to replace mugs and glasses with clean ones. I was so grossed out that I not only didn't use those glasses, I didn't use the ones at the hotel the following night in Chicago. Now I have a thing about mugs and glasses in hotel rooms, and it's causing me trouble as I spend at least 1 night a week in a hotel room. Is this normal? It certainly was NOT sanitary and it's grossed me out, to use a phrase of my niece's.

Is there some rule about replacing glasses, or do they just wash them in the rooms? I wonder what else we don't see! The thing is, she did it right in front of me, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Did I overreact?
