Last year my husband and I missed our connection at IAD for MCO. The best UA could do was put us on separate flights later the same day, so my husband took the first one and I followed a couple of hours later.

The Avis rental was made in my name (President's Club). He proceeded to the Avis kiosk with all our luggage and they would only give him the car by changing the name on the reservation to his name and credit card. Luckily, he also has a President's Club card and AmEx platinum card, so it was an easy switch.

They told him the rate would remain the same, but when we turned the car in, they had not honored the EuroBonus Silver discount code (which he also qualifies for). A quick stop at the kiosk and the charge was rectified to the original booked rate -- luckily we had a print out from the website with the confirmed rate.

The EB points didn't post automatically, but I was able to claim them with SAS later, but on his EB account since his name was on the Avis receipt.
