sell it and get a notebook computer instead...
But if you must, I hope the screen is LCD not CRT.

You could check in the screen... make sure you insure it
if its valuable. You can carry the computer with you if it can
fit in the overhear bin (check the aircraft you'll be flying.)

You can buy a bag to pack that in, but I'd say you can just bubble
wrape it, and make a handle out of the box tape.
(carry some extra tape if security or customs wants to
cut it open and see)
