when I was at the Big Island flying to Kauai, I got stranded. My friend had no problem cuz we were on different airlines. I phoned Avis 800 # and was told NO. I still gave the reservation confirmation to my friend. Upon arrival at Lihue airport in Kauai, she went to Avis presented the confirmation printout and her drivers lisc. The guy at the counter said its a different name! She then told him that I am arriving on a later flight cuz I was stranded. So he took my booking made her the primary driver and when I arrived I became the secondary driver. To answer your question she earned the points not me. Which I didn't mind.
