The map we see between the movies on long haul flights is, IMHO, in need of a spruce up. Beside the fact that it moves very slowly, especially between SYD-LAX, the information it gives is a bit sparse. If you were given the job of improving it, what would you do to make things more interesting? What sort of information would you like to see? What visuals?
Some airlines have much better "flight path" than other airlines. For example Air NZ's has lots of useful info as well as 3d renderings of the flight path, daylight/nighttime shown en route, etc.
