Going to and from the US, now though, I'm not sure they'd accept it.
It was fine going south (by car) a year ago. I guess if you're flying south before a passport is mandatory, and it isn't mandatory for entering Canada, there's no reason they shouldn't let you fly, though that doesn't mean they will I suppose.
