Well, something was broken ... the seat shifters used to move people for no apparent reason. And that was the only thing which needed fixing...just stop them doing that. Perhaps that was too hard to do, so BA just decided to have absolutely no seat changes at all instead.
Oh, and two bookings TCP'd together didn't get the privilege of gold across them both (as advertised), so that needed fixing too. Otherwise I agree, this has been a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
