Ah yes...another victim of AC's
simplified fare system, a.k.a. how do we give as little as possible for as much money as possible. Aeroplan (AP) or as many prefer to call it,
errorplan has just announced the latest slash-and-burn of benefits for their frequent flyers today and the AC board is wailing and beating their chests - but few will switch their business and will continue to get abused and burned.
But I digress...
Tango usually appears as the cheapest fare on the selection screen and as a result it earns only 50%
AeroUseless miles and - here's the catch! - 0 Qualifying Miles for errorplan status!
Tango-Plus, which is the next fare selection and which is sometimes cheaper than
Tango
but usually about $30Cdn more expensive, on the other hand, does earn qualifying miles with errorplan and 100% qualifying miles with DM. The miles post to DM usually within 1 week.
Now this only applies to North America and you have to be careful with any international.
Unless you use a TA or phone in to AC and talk to an agent (for extra $$) you cannot find the actual fare class as they use these funny names for their fares.
