My impression from the article was that the airport authorities wouldn't allow Smith to bring the Heisman on the plane as carry-on.
I'm thinking it was never under consideration. It sounds like it was going to be shipped all along, otherwise how was it shipped from the airport? The news film I saw also showed him in the airport with no sign of the trophy. It sounds more and more like a cheap shot at TSA (not that they don't deserve it most of the time
)
