I sent emails to Customer Services and got the dumbass reply posted earlier in this thread.

I also emailed EC and got a reply tonight. The sender apologised for the inconvenience and said they were having some technical difficulties implementing the new seating policy. He did say they are working on rectifying the situation.

Maybe we just need to give them time to get it right. Mind you if someone implemented a mess like this in any business I have worked for heads would have been rolling.

Just to add another stupid mess story to the mix; I was chatting with a Blue who booked WT+ flights with his other half on the one PNR. The were pre-assigned seats 18B and 18K and they can't change the seats online.
The rest of the WT+ cabin is completely empty.
