Their email says that they're trying to make the seating better/fairer for us, those with status etc., and in all but a handful of cases, the crowd that they're trying to improve things for has been seriously disrupted.

I think the problem is we don't understand what they're trying to achieve, and that adds to the frustration of it not working...

No its not just you. I also had no problems with it before.
At least before I knew I had to olci at -23:59 to get the single seats in W....
now as they are released before olci and I typically buy my tickets a month or two at max in advance, I honestly doubt I will ever get to sit in them again-
The two sector in WT+ I have flown since this policy started, on both occasions there have been golds in those very seats. It seems they are now gold only seats and screw anyone else. The remaining seats are IMHO all shite, with the exception of the row 29 windows which I am fine with- but these now open up before olci therefore giving me practially zero chance of getting them unless I book a long time in advance, which is something I am not prepared to do.

All I am now offered at olci is the middle two bulkheads/bassinets or a variety of rubbish around the rest of the cabin- most of which were aisle or middle seats. Great
At least with them opening up at olci everyone has an equal chance. I have rarely had any problems getting straight onto olci and securing them, or on the ocassions olci didnt open them up, have had it changed at check in at the airport.

This is honestly making me think about either going back to Maxjet (I used them for several months earlier this year when I got annoyed with BA) or to VS, or heaven forbin I might try AA as a last resort, as it seems BA is intent on both p*ssing off their customers, and also implementing stupid and not really neccessary 'enhancemants'.
Although I am not a gold card holder (yet), the fact that I spend more in a year on BA than some people earn in an entire year really does not seem to matter to them.

If it isn't broken (which for the most part, lets be honest, it wasn't) then it doesnt need fixing.

/end of rant
