Thank you for your email regarding your concerns about the changes we are making to the way in which customers can select their seats before travel.

The changes are designed to give customers a better and wider choice of seats when checking-in for a flight, including seats that were previously unavailable. In order to achieve this, we have reduced the number of seats available for pre-assignment at the time of booking. We understand that while the changes may mean that you will no longer be able to book your seats when you purchase your flights, you will benefit from a wider selection of seats when you check in.

Changes to the seat maps on ba.com will also make it easier for customers to see the position of all the seats available, making it easier for you to choose your seat online.

You can check in online from 24 hours before your flight departs. The earlier you check-in the greater choice of seats you will have. Once a seat has been chosen it will not be changed, subject only to rare operational requirements.

We apologise if you are unhappy with the changes we are making. With the popularity of online check in growing we have seen an opportunity to improve our global seating procedures and provide customers with a clear and dynamic way to choose the best seat available.
