Milford Sound is absolutely gorgeous. We drove ourselves from Queenstown (about a 4 hour drive I think each way; make sure you fill up a full tank of gas!). We ended up spending an overnight on a 12-person boat (there was only 4 of us + a couple on our trip). The best part of the trip was waking up at 5am and going for a kayak ride in the still water. We saw dolphins too!
