The only thing you can do is call back and try to convince another agent to take pity on you. From what I read on here, AA is thankfully tightening the ability of people to do retro challenges, serial challenges, and other not so well deserved challenges.

Your father should be able to sign up for the Plat challenge right now and be platinum very soon anyway. Not a big deal if you're using the challenges how they are intended.
