November 2006 came and having only 390 Tier Points (all from Leisure travel) I was prepared for the shame of dropping down to Blue. I'm a UK BAEC member, so quite some way from the 600 Tier Points to remain Silver.
As expected, a letter informing I hadn't got enough tier points, followed by a new BA Blue card. It was actually quite a liberating experience
I checked my BA account today to find that I'm actually a silver member with 0 tier points now. It definitely said blue a couple of weeks ago....
I certainly didn't request any extension or ask to stay silver, and haven't received a letter/email or a silver card yet, so very strange.
As it has happened so close to the seating debacle rollout, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else knows of anything similar. I've heard of extensions being granted previously due to missed flights (cancellations) or by extending the membership year by a few days, but this happened nearly a month after I was relegated to Blue.
Wonder if this is part of the enhancement to fix the seating changes, where they decided to promote everyone a level so there is a fighting chance of fixing some of the bookings with multiple passengers
Who knows if complaints continue, maybe the 'solution' will be to promote everyone to Gold, rather than have to fix that croc of sh&t that is ba.com
