I have been looking at a digital camera too and this Sony W series seems to be one of the best.
However the reviews I read suggested that the image quality is better on the ones that do not have the 10 megapixel sensor, which is too noisy. In other words the W100 is actually the one with the worst image quality.
Not only that but the base version (W30) seemed to be the best bet, since it matched the image quality of any of them - and the others models are very similar and add little for the additional price. Just a few do dads.
But the W30 is an outstanding spec and image quality for the price. In fact, you'd struggle to find a true compact digicam with a better image quality at any price, actually.
The DCResource website had thorough reviews of these, as well as a table somewhere that laid out the difference. If you look at that and examine their sample images in detail I suspect you too might find that the W100 is not the best pick although it is supposedly their "top of the line" model.
