Just out of curiosity, why do you prefer US over AC? IMO, AC's aircraft are more comfortable and they give you the Globe and Mail, but T3 at Pearson is less of a hassle than AC's T2. US also (used to, at least) allow free standby which was a big plus.
flying to USA 12-15 times / year out of YOW, the pre-clearance @ YOW is miles ahead of the sh!tshow in YYZ and YUL.
I, for one, don't prefer US airways as an airline, it's just much easier and more convenient for travelling to USA.

friend just called an told me bags didn't make it (PHL-TPA) even with 1.5 hr connection (she was one of 12 in same situation)
My AP # did not come across to boarding pass even though it's clearly on the reservation
