I agree with yyz-kin about the Ren. Closer to the "in" places....and a few local hangouts if you're too tired/lazy/impatient/snowed-in to walk the ten minutes or so to the King Street Peter/John area. I've also stayed at the downtown CY...which I'd describe as good hotel in sort of a "mixed bag" area. Eaton Centre is a nicer hotel....not far away from the CY, and also a better choice IMHO than the CY.
