Thumbs down

Just for the record, I did the Delta survey and even received 250 Skymiles. However, this did NOT extend the expiration date. I emailed Delta's Customer Care and they said the bonus miles do not count.

Here is the email I've received from Delta:

Thank you for contacting us.

Our records indicate, the 250 miles posted to your SkyMiles account are
the bonus miles and this is not considered as an activity to extend the
expiration date of your SkyMiles.

As stated in the SkyMiles Membership Guide, all SkyMiles are subject to
an expiration date. SkyMiles will not expire as long as there is
participation in one of the following activities at least once every
three years (Effective December 31 2006, miles will expire after two
years without activity.):

- Earn or redeem miles for travel on a qualifying Delta, Delta Shuttle,
SkyTeam, or other SkyMiles airline partner flight
- Earn or redeem miles with one of the SkyMiles program partners
including hotels, car rentals, Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American
Express, international credit card partners, Everyday Miles by Rewards
Network, MilePoint.com, mortgage lenders, CAP magazine subscriptions,
real estate, or telecommunications partners
- Purchase miles by visiting www.delta.com/buymiles

Please note the following types of account activity do not extend the
SkyMiles expiration date:

- Mileage redeposit
- Posting of bonus miles alone
- Mileage transfer to a designated beneficiary due to death or
incapacitation

We appreciate your interest in Delta Air Lines.

Sincerely,

Meg Paul

Btw, I'm in the same situation as pentop's wife. if anyone has any suggestions on how to extend the miles inexpensively (without buying more Skymiles), I'm all ears, too.

TIA~
