Is it usual that Air Canada cancel a flight this way and bump pax to another flight? Lucky that it's holiday or I will have no way to get on that plane, but still, my friend can't take me to YXU airport. In other words, cab is the only way for me to get there.

Yes this normal and regular. However FYI you can now ask for a change to the itinerary should the time not work for you. They should not charge any fees for this type of involuntary change. I was able to parlay a 1.5 hour schedule change into flying on a different day and save myself the 5$ aeroplan change fee.
