Having been commuting on and off to Hawaii since 1997-1998 my experience is that the service is highly variable between flight crews that are just putting in their hours and doing their jobs as if it were any other route and flight crews who go way out of their way to decorate and make things festive. (One FA I know would buy a lei on her return every trip to pull apart and use for decorations on her next outbound a few days later. She was one of those who was senior enough to hold the exact same line every month.) Frankly it doesn't matter to me much which type of crew I have, but it does seem to make the tourists get really happy and excited. Yeah, I'm getting old and jaded, but that's what years of macadamia nut encrusted chicken will do to you.
