Cafe Collage has recently opened on the NW corner of Bleecker and Macdougal in one of those cursed locations that you can't believe would ever have decent coffee given the previous tenants. But it's really quite good--they're using beans and chai from Intelligentsia in Chicago, including Black Cat for their espresso. Pastries are from Balthazar. Apparently the guy who opened it is from a shop in Portland, OR that's famous amongst coffee geeks.
Well, that corner is NYU-land, so maybe there is enough of a consumer base from the university to sustain it. As long as they have WiFi.
