We did indeed arrive early - 13:21 I think the LGW screens showed? A speedy pass through immigration (alas I was forced to use 'normal' channels, held up by some idiot being constantly told to 'move forward' or 'move back' in Iris

) and it all looked to be going spiffingly. Of course, BAA's incompetence (a sub-par Transit train) and general UK train incompetence (delays) let us all down and I got home just gone 3pm. Still not bad at all though. Swings and roundabouts I say. I'm sure some would agree
I think I can say an exceptionally enjoyable weekend was had by all. Thanks again to
Steady-EDI for pulling this all together and sorting us out, and
sentom for finding an excellent (and very tolerant, Arschgeweih and all!) restaurant for Saturday evening. Salzburg is a beautiful city and the fresh air was about all that saved me from post-Holiday Inn death on Saturday morning when we arrived!
Great as usual to catch up with some usual suspects and really nice to meet lots of new people (including the remarkably reserved, shy and retiring
MCS?, of course!). Apologies to all who expected me to be a 75 year old with cattle prod in tow when they met me
Excellent stuff ^
cloudwatcher – apologies for us causing hassle

Though it was immaterial in the end as we got away ‘on time’ (after a deliberate 30 minute delay due to fog at SZG) so I hope we didn’t cause too much trouble. When I found out what was going on, I was convinced it was our missing person’s newly acquired knighthood which was the reason the groundstaff were running around and waiting for him

Anyway, I do hope it didn't drive anyone nuts (like KP went in the first innings)
Anyway, inspired by
BahrainLad’s excellent suggestion on the train home, I’m off to find a bottle of red for the evening!
