The 2L door is actually a few rows back in coach so it was almost embarrassing to squeeze by some passengers to be allowed the first to exit the plane, but being the first to immigration makes any of that embarrassment go away quickly.
Some years ago, I was flying TWA from JFK to LHR in F on a 747. TWA had F seating on the main level not upstairs.

When we arrived at LHR, another guy got to the door at the same time as me, but I simply said, "after you." When the door opened, a uniformed airline employee was standing in front and walked over to him and said, "Good day, sir. Is everything well?"

He nodded and then turned to me and said, "want a ride?" I said, "sure," got on the golf cart and we sped through the terminal on the way to Immigration and Customs, where he took off with no luggage.

On my return, I asked someone I knew at TWA what this was all about and he said it sounded like I had met the airline's VP of Europe.
