Most times, large storms do not happen in mid-December, but you can never be sure. I remember one year (many years ago), a storm hit a city near where I lived in NYS at the time so hard on October 3 that it shut down that city for a few days! (Where I lived 30 miles away, we had sun and did not even see a snowflake!) But the next storm was not until January!

As stated above, check the weather sites on the net. They will give some indication of the future weather. Also, if you see a storm in Washington, DC or New York, you can usually expect it to hit Boston the following day.
