I've been on flights of other airlines (names withheld to protect the guilty) over New Year or Xmas (availability is always so great and the flights so empty!) when they did nothing and the staff were just miserable - probably pi$$ed off that they had to work over the holidays.

Just for the record, I actually prefer that they don't try anything "special" (which will usually be fake and corny) - if I wanted a party I'd stay at home - but I also don't want them to drop their standards
